The relationships within the family bring an affinity of feelings, affections and interests, arising above all from the members' respect for one another.

Choices that are always popular

We all love the book, and this movie is true to the original story. Even the boys enjoy watching it. Dad thinks this movie has the coolest music, as well as a great family message. We love classic black-and-white movies. This is one of the very best.

This is one of our all-time favorites. It is pure silliness. There are a few instances of using God's name in vain; otherwise, no concerns. Classic Christian story  beautifully brought to the screen.

Sweet story which the kids insist is pure "puppy love." (Don't blame the parents for that quote!)

Wonderful songs in a story of one family's experience preparing for the St. Louis World's Fair.

Two bad girls contend with a very Catholic school principal. Funny and charming..

Musical version of The Shop Around the Corner (1940). In 1998 it was again remade into You've Got Mail, an inferior version.

Great for family night when the children are a little older
(starting at 8-12 years, depending on the movie and child)

Father Goose and Operation Petticoat are World War II comedies. It seems only Cary Grant can make a war movie funny and charming. Both movies have mild adult romantic situations. We have found both to be a gentle way  to open discussion of war and its causes and effects.

Fast-paced comedy with some fantastic acting by Grant & Russell. Our children started enjoying this around age 12 years. Before that they just didn't get it. This is a sophisticated movie that sends an important message about adult relationships. It is better for older children.

Jimmy Stewart is a wonderful Charles Lindbergh. We were all on the edge of our seats when he was falling asleep while flying over the Atlantic!

When your family is ready for some Alfred Hitchcock classic suspense, consider these. They are wonderful!
Caution: They all involve grave sin

A man suspects his neighbor of murder.

A man arranges the death of his adulterous wife.

A case of mistaken identity leads a man to be into a ring of spies and an accusation of murder

A spy and the daughter of a traitor try to catch Nazi criminals.

Amnesia and murder - always exciting!

Our Catholic Youth Group watched Psycho for Halloween. They were terrified by this black and white classic!
